These guitar picks were created to commemorate the first anniversary of Fender Flagship Tokyo, Fender’s first flagship store in the world, which opened on June 30, 2023 and has since become a new landmark in Harajuku.
The picks feature artwork inspired by the famous Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai. The slide-style metal tin is boldly decorated with “The Great Wave off Kanagawa,” one of the prints from the iconic series Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji. Inside the tin are 12 guitar picks.
Each pick features a different design based on Hokusai’s artwork:
4 designs that creatively crop and highlight famous landscape scenes.
4 designs featuring lively characters from Hokusai Manga, specifically the “Suzume Odori” (Sparrow Dance), shown in different poses and colors.
4 humorous designs titled “Hokusai People Play Fender,” depicting figures from traditional Japanese scenes holding guitars or basses.
